Have you played a round of tennis? Wow, I just got back on the court this weekend and I realized how much I missed it. Tennis is a great sport, but you do need a partner. My husband has been looking to get more active & I invited him to a game, so I really recommend it for couples or friends that are reconnecting. Yes, friends can always meet up for lunch, but why not be active & then have a light lunch.

An hour of tennis for a 155 lb. adult can burn up to 600 calories! That makes tennis a terrific workout for weight loss. A game of tennis burns more calories than aerobics or cycling.

It’s A Long Story My Life by Willie Nelson. Maybe it’s that I’m a Texan that this made it in my library, but I do love Willie Nelson’s music & I have been a fan for many years. Even though I have been that long time fan & music lover, I found this to be so informative. Willie Nelson does not hold back in this book. He talks about his upbringing & when he started singing & playing guitar. He talks about the good times and the bad times. I love when he talks about his love for farmers and farm life. I have always loved what Willie Nelson has done with Farm Aid. I also when he tells us about the favorite song he has written. Yes, I love Willie Nelson & I enjoyed reading this book.

Hello friends & happy Monday. I wanted to bring up something serious, keeping open communication about drugs with our kids. Now, I’m not an expert at all & I am a parent of an only child. My son is now 21 years old & I was able to be a SAHM with him in his grade school days of childhood. So you can take away anything from what I write, I just want to put that out there. My son, Jeremy & I always had a close relationship. We could talk about anything, we still can.

I do believe that it is best to begin open communication with our children about everything at all ages. There is so much that is being taught to children by others at such a young age & the age keeps getting younger.

My Friday Favorite Things!

My Friday Favorite Things  http://lisaireneserrano.comHello Friends! I have finished up my volunteer duties, pfew! Actually, I missed a bit of the second week because I was ill with my migraines. Yuck. Luckily I was able to pick up the next week with my duties & finished up Wednesday. I missed catching up with my blog, but it was worth it to volunteer & help out in the community.

I have changed Friday’s to ‘My Friday Favorite Things’. It seems like I am always finding something that I love & I always want to share it with you & others. I am a vegetarian, crafter, party planner, wife, mom, homemaker, housekeeper, tech guru & gadget lover. Well, a little bit of this & a little bit of that! Hello Sunshine! Yes, it is officially summer. Time to get outside, work in the garden, participate in outdoor sports or observe outdoor sports. This is the time we take vacations at the beach or are just Busy Bee’s. However, when you are out & about, we need to stay hydrated. You have probably heard that we need 8 glasses of water a day, but in warmer days we actually need more. When we exercise we lose so much water because of sweating that we need to make sure we drink water before, during & after we exercise. If you only wait until after, you may already be dehydrated.

Hello friends & happy Friday! I will still be enjoying vacation. It’s more of a staycation, I am at home and helping with my volunteering duties. I have not been able to keep up with my commitments lately & I found it necessary to take a bit of time off from interviewing, researching, writing & updating social media so that I can do my part. Many times we help out during the holiday season, but summer is just as important. There are kids that are at home all day & are in need. The heat of summer can bring a need for window fans to be donated. There are many that visit our beautiful parks, including tourists, during the summer, so any help in keeping them beautiful and litter free will make us all proud. Volunteer your passion or trade. Research online & find an outlet how & where you can volunteer. Trust me, there are many organizations that need volunteers in the summer.

Hello & happy Fitness Friday! We’ve been wrapped up in the Women’s World Cup & with July 4th gatherings this weekend, it’s a great time to bring the soccer ball out to stay fit & healthy with soccer. I always love team sports to get more that one of us up and moving, but if you are alone you can still do a few exercises to  help your soccer game. Have you seen soccer players? They are always super fit! We all remember Brandi Chastain after she took off her Jersey! It’s one of the reasons I decided to start picking up the soccer ball.
